Margaret Ekpo International Airport (IATA: CBQ, ICAO: DNCA), also known as Calabar Airport, is an airport serving Calabar, the capital of the Cross River State in Nigeria.

The Calabar VOR-DME (Ident: CAL) is located 2.9 nautical miles (5.4 km) off the threshold of Runway 03. The Calabar non-directional beacon (Ident: CR) is located on the field.

Named after one of the foremost Nigerian women’s rights activist and social mobilizer, Margaret Ekpo, this relatively busy airport services the needs of travelers to and fro the ‘Nations’s Paradise’.

 

Chief Margaret Ekpo (July 27, 1914 – September 21, 2006) was a Nigerian women’s rights activist and social mobilizer who was a pioneering female politician in the country’s First Republic and a leading member of a class of traditional Nigerian women activists, many of whom rallied women beyond notions of ethnic solidarity was named after the Calabar Airport.

There has been a recent upgrading of facilities and a new Terminal Building that are key features that has made this one of the best airports in Nigeria.
