Director of Aviation Security Services

ACP Afegbai Albert Igbafe (Rtd) is the newly appointed Director of Aviation Security Services of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

He is on record as the first Nigerian Police officer to be recruited as a United Nations peacekeeping police officer in the United Nations peace keeping mission in Kosovo; a feat that bestowed both national and international recognition on him. Also worthy of note is that his performance in the aforementioned assignment was exceptional and a point of reference till this day.

Some of his Professional Qualifications include; Cadet Inspector, Nigerian Police Academy, Challawa Kano (1988-1989), Citizenship and Leadership Training course, Shere Hill’s Jos (1988), Detective course 1989, Nigerian Police Mobile Training College, Maiduguri (1989), Police Train the Trainers Course, Police Staff College, Jos, CPTU (1994), PC and Windows Fundamentals course, American Embassy Lagos (1999), Police Science Training seminars, U.S Department of Justice, FBI, US Embassy Lagos, Team Building and Conflict Management course, Kosovo (2001), International Law Enforcement Instructors course 1&2 UNMIK Kosovo (2001), Mine awareness/UXO/Train the Trainers Course, SWIDISH KFOR Kosovo (2001), Team Leadership course, UNMIK Kosovo (2001) and Global Terrorism course, UN Institute for Training and Research Programme of Correspondence, Instructions in Peace Keeping operations. UNAMSIL Sierra Leone (2005).

His major strength is in investigations and intelligence gathering which also underpin his success in all previous units, assignments and capacities he has functioned as a police officer. His experience, performance and results in administration and management are formidable. Added to his foundational training in policing, he has attended various national and international courses in investigations on Cybercrime, Fraud; Terrorism, and slew of criminal and corrupt practices in revered countries such as Botswana, Dubai, and the United State (FBI).

ACP Igbafe (Rtd) has a wide range of experience in the Nigerian Police force, including serving as, Chief Security officer to the Inspector General of Police IGP Hafiz RIGIM 2011. Pioneer Squadron Commander of Special Protection Unit Base 3 Yola, Adamawa State, 2011-2014. 2i/c Special Enforcement Intelligence and Investigation Unit of the Federal Inland Revenue Service Abuja. 2015-2019. Squadron Commander of Squadron 21 of Nigeria Police Mobile Force Nyanya Abuja. 2019-2021, and Area Commander, Area E Police Command Headquarters Festac 25/09/2021 – 05/12/2022.

His accomplishments include the opening of two police squadrons in Nigeria: squadrons 56 PMF Sakpenwa, Ogoni, Rivers State, and Special Protection Unit base #3 (SPU) Yola, Adamawa State.

He retired as the Head, Incident and crime Data Base, Force Headquarters Annex Panti, Yaba, Lagos 5/22/2022 – 15/03/2023.

ACP Afegbai Albert Igbafe (Rtd) has also served in the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) as the second in command at intelligence, investigation and enforcement unit. He investigated very high profile cases while there, and his efforts played integral roles in some of the record-breaking returns in revenue recorded by the agency.

Some of his hobbies include, Travelling, Reading, watching movies, Lawn Tennis, and skipping.

He is married with children.
